Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
How does Last Message work?
Last Message requires you to check in periodically by pressing a button in the app. If you don't check in for your chosen period (14-60 days), the app will send your pre-written messages to your designated recipients. To prevent accidental delivery, you'll receive notifications before any messages are sent.
What happens if I forget to check in?
Don't worry - we have multiple safeguards in place. You'll receive:
- An email alert and push notification 7 days before any message would be sent
- Premium users get additional daily email reminder after 7 days of inactivity
- You can configure daily check-in reminders to help you stay on track
Is my data secure?
Yes, we take security very seriously. All messages are encrypted using military-grade AES-GCM encryption with PBKDF2 key derivation. Messages are encrypted on your device, and we never have access to your unencrypted content. For additional security, you can encrypt your message using our open-source website before adding it to the app.
What's included in the free version?
The free version includes:
- One message for one recipient
- 30-day fixed check-in period
- Basic notifications (7-day warning)
- Check-in once per 24 hours
- Full encryption features
- Cross-platform synchronization
Premium Features
What additional features do I get with Premium?
Premium users enjoy:
- Multiple messages with multiple recipients
- Flexible check-in periods (14, 30, or 60 days)
- SMS notifications for recipients
- Enhanced notification system with daily reminders
- Message resend capability (up to 3 attempts)
- No advertisements
What happens if my Premium subscription expires?
It depends: 1) If you don’t renew your premium subscription you won’t be able to check in until you either renew your premium subscription or revert to a free account. 2) If you don’t take any action until the planned delivery of messages, we will assume that you were unable to. In this case, we will fulfill your wish and deliver all messages as designed.
